27% of the UK’s total emissions come from the transport we use. It is difficult to not travel as many of us need to travel for work, school, to visit friends and family, and to enjoy our free time. It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea to stay at home.

How we choose to travel is incredibly important as each form of travel has its own environmental impact, with some having more of an impact than others.

In 2019, the UK’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy released their Greenhouse gas reporting: conversion factors 2019. The statistics in the graph below have been found using these conversion factors to conclude which forms of transport have the biggest carbon footprint:
