Across the UK, thousands of people will come together at 20 different locations, to become Lumenators. This is part of the Green Spaces Dark Skies event that encourages people to get into nature. Each attendee will be given a low impact light, that will help light the way into our green spaces.
The aim of the event is to get those that wouldn’t normally go for walks in nature, such as those that live in urban areas and those that are vulnerable, including young people in the care system, to witness the beautiful landscapes of the UK for themselves. They plan to carry out a number of walks between April and September 2022, to allow people to come together and admire our environment.
Each walker holding a light will be part of a patterned artwork that will be formed on mountains, lakes and moorlands within National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs). Each walk will be filmed to produce a short film showing the beauty of the UK and showing how important it is that we all experience the natural world around us.
