The Mawazo Institute is an African organisation that is led by women to support women researchers in the early stages of their careers. These women will go on to work in exploring how to solve global development challenges, such as those created through climate change, with local solutions.

Sustainable achievements

  • Rose is the Research Director for the Energy for Growth Hub
  • She was the Senior Fellow in the Office of International Climate and Clean Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)
  • Mutiso has also been part of the production of legislation for energy access in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, as well as legislation for conservation, energy, and innovation policies
  • Rose has two TED talks where she talks about sustainable energy in Africa: How to bring affordable, sustainable electricity to Africa; and The energy Africa needs to develop — and fight climate change
  • Subjects such as electric vehicles, net zero modelling and new energy technologies have been a part of her recent research
